Meet the folks behind Sprigley.

We’re a team of industry veterans from the health care, data architecture, analytic, behavior change fields – everything from a Fulbright recipient to rock star web 2.0 developers. We’ve helped create industry award-winning tools and scaled them to millions of users.

Melanie worked on the Human Genome Project at the Yale Child Study Center while an undergrad at Yale. After graduating with a degree in political science, she worked at Solstice Ventures before joining Health Dialog Analytic Solutions. At Health Dialog, Melanie helped create and managed products such as the Smart Registry, a tool with over 2MM users that was named “Best New Enabling Tool for Disease Management” by the Disease Management Association of America. She taught English in Uzbekistan and provided color commentary for basketball on Indiana radio.

Burak graduated from a German-language prep school before taking a BS in chemical engineering from Bosphorus University in Turkey. He finished an MBA at the University of Southern Maine then developed software and databases for Fidelity and consulted for PricewaterhouseCoopers. He joined Health Dialog Analytic Solutions as their first employee, working with Melanie to create a database architecture capable of analyzing billions of records and identifying any one of over 20MM individuals. He is an avid hiker and coffee connoisseur.

Josh taught special education at a public elementary school in urban southern California, working with autistic children. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. While studying history, he received a Fulbright to the Sorbonne’s Applied School for Advanced Studies (EPHE), an interdisciplinary think tank where he started exploring behavior change and quantifying qualitative data. With his wife Melanie and Burak, they created database systems capable of analyzing individuals’ clinical profiles, motivations, attitudes and behaviors.

Chris hails from the upstate of South Carolina and is a very proud to call himself a “sandlapper.” When not playing with his newly gifted light saber, he enjoys playing the violin and mandolin - proud to include Carnegie Hall as one of the venues in which he accompanied an orchestra to play. He also enjoys reading history, especially U.S. presidential biographies. In summary, he’s very much a geek and spends large portions of his days trying to figure out why his wonderful wife, Amy, ever decided to marry him.

Marijke is a registered nurse and a health writer who enjoys helping people learn about their health care and how to stay as healthy as possible. Marijke’s created content for a major clinical information services and run online communities. She regularly blogs at Help My Hurt, which focuses on living with pain, and Nurses’ Notes, which explores issues nurses face today, including everything from shift work, to communication, to EMR use. For those who aren’t sure how to say “Marijke,” it’s a Dutch name that’s pronounced like muh-RYE-keh/kah. Not exactly as it looks but don’t worry about it - she’s used to the puzzled looks.
